The 2011 Grouper season has changed from years past. All shallow water grouper (i.e. Gag, Red, Black and scamp) are closed from February 1 – March 31. Red Grouper, Black Grouper and Scamp will reopen on April 1 as they have in the past. Gag Grouper are now closed from January 1 – June 30 with a possible extension of up to six additional months. The final judgment on the opening date of Gag Grouper will be made this spring at the Gulf Council/ National Marine Fisheries meeting. We will keep you informed as we are given details.
Until then, we are offering a Fishing Trip Giveaway for our All Day customers. During February and March we will award a free all day pass to the person catching the largest Grouper for the day. When Red/Black Grouper and Scamp reopen on April 1, we will award a free All Day pass to the customer releasing the largest Gag Grouper.
